‘The Voice’ UK scores big ratings; is Rita Ora, something else main factor?
The latest series of “The Voice UK” was one we were unsure about going in, at least when it comes to its commercial success. Would viewers tire of a singing show with zero track record of finding stars? Also, would viewers respond to Rita Ora the same way that they did Kylie Mingoue?
As it turns out, it appears as though the show may really be on to something. The latest episode of the singing show from Saturday night turned in the best overall performance from the series in years. It drew in total 8.72 million viewers, which per Tellymix is the show’s top performance since the very first season.
Ultimately, we do feel like there is one primary reason why the show is doing so much better: Timing. Thanks to the BBC moving the show to January, and there being so little competition on Saturdays this year in that timeslot, it is able to excel. This is what the network was hoping for when they first shifted the show to this spot last year.
Ultimately, we feel like we can say with some confidence that the momentum for “The Voice UK” should continue at least through next weekend. The Blind Auditions are always an enormous draw, given that the element of surprise makes for very fun TV. However, we are going to have to wait and see if there is really the same level of success waiting for the show in the latter stages. Typically, this is where things start to slide a little.
