Ratings: ‘Hart of Dixie’ season 4 improves; the latest on its renewal odds
For the vast majority of the Friday-night TV lineup, there really is not a whole lot to see when it comes to the ratings. “Grimm” is already renewed, “Glee” is ending, “Constantine” is done, and is anyone really looking for ratings on “Last Man Standing”?
Ultimately, we always find ourselves looking over towards “Hart of Dixie,” mostly because this is the show that really needs the viewership and the attention if it wants to have any real shot at all at getting renewed. Right now, the odds are slim, and that is us being kind. Almost every other show on the network is renewed already, save or “iZombie” and “The Messengers,” which have not even premiered. Also, the cast even spoke about it as though it was the final season before the premiere even aired.
The good news for “Hart of Dixie” fans? The show did improve to a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which does raise its odds ever so slightly. This is its average so far the first five episodes of the show, and there are two good arguments fans can make for a renewal:
1. Would many other CW shows draw this same rating on a Friday night?
2. “Reign” gets this same number on a Thursday, and it has help from “The Vampire Diaries”.
Unfortunately, the counters that we would make there are that lead-ins on The CW are perhaps overrated, and also that “Reign” is a CBS TV show, which is something that the network likes to have to balance things out with all of their Warner Bros. programming.
Ultimately, the choice to renew this show may just depend on what they are considering for the new TV season.
