‘NCIS’ season 12 spoilers: First look at young Tony DiNozzo!
Ready to jump into an “NCIS” time machine? You are going to have a chance to do that during “Cadence,” which is the new episode of the show airing on Tuesday.
The story of this episode is going to take us all the way back to Tony DiNozzo’s old military academy, where he spent a whole lot of his time as a teenager trying to figure out who he was. This leads to a number of flashbacks, and you can see actor Tanner Stine as him in the attached photo! Even visually, we can see a little bit of Tony’s mannerisms in him. So far, we give him credit. This looks promising!
As for why Tony is back, it is pretty much for the reason that you would expect here: A case. He has to figure out if there is anything from his past that could end up ultimately helping him in some way with his present. This should be interesting to watch unfold over the course of the episode. While we cannot promise that the mystery will be great, we’ve always found Tony flashbacks episodes to be entertaining. Maybe it is because the character is typically so enthusiastic and full of energy.
This has already been an eventful season for Tony, and that is going to keep up the rest of the way. At some point, Robert Wagner will return as the elder DiNozzo, and there will be some interesting events that come as a result of that.

Haven’t watched since the beginning of January but have read reviews. From what I am reading I am not missing anything. The show could still be good it they would simply admit they made a mistake and fix it. I miss NCIS that used to keep me riveted every Tuesday. No more.

Same here. I read the recaps but I haven’t watched any of them since January. I’ve been watching NCIS_LA.. That show still has the continuity, actually more, than NCIS used to have. It has interesting back stories, great interpersonal stuff and lot’s of humor. Shane Brennan uses Bellisario’s game plan, tweeked a bit. He has the strong female agent in Kensi. He doesn’t have a father figure like Gibbs but instead a mother figure, The main characters have father or mother issues or both. Hetti, the mother figure, is a very interesting character. He also is good at throwing curve balls to the audience.
The problem with LA is that it relies on “shoot em ups and exploding cars” for action. They must kill about 20 bad guys on every episode. I feel like I’m watching a video game. I think that it is designed for a younger audience.
I watch for the Bellisario-esque nature of the interpersonal stuff. In JAG Harm Raab spent years looking for his MIA father. On LA, Callen has spent years searchiing for his identity. Brennan learned from the master. The time slot is really hard to overcome as far as viewership is concerned. LA is still beating out it’s competition.

I hope this is more than the usual lite story that Tony tends to get in his yearly one and done while every other week we get an “emotional” episode featuring Gibbs. Frankly I’d like to see Tony get an “emotional” episode for a change instead of these dramatic opportunities always going to Harmon’s Gibbs. Guess we’ll see.
