ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4, episode 11 review: Who wants to buy Olivia Pope?
Over the course of the winter premiere, we started to figure out just what the picture is on “Scandal” season 4, and it was a pretty grisly one for Olivia Pope. She was captured, and the man behind it in Ian has some pretty serious demands. Basically, he wants to use her as the ultimate pawn in order to convince Fitz to do precisely what he wanted, and that included an invasion of West Angola. The decision of war versus love is something that continues to weigh heavily on the President.
On tonight’s new episode, what we had the opportunity to see was much more of the actual rescue mission for the character. We learned if it was even possible for her to be found and brought back, given everything that she has been through and some of the obstacles that are in the way. Let’s face it: At the moment, there are many. This includes not only Andrew, but many others that were tangled within this same crazy web.
Luckily, Olivia does have some good friends! Led in part by Jake and Huck, we had a chance to see an attempt to rescue her … unfortunately, that did not exactly work.
The good news for them was that their failure was not due to Olivia being killed; instead, it was because of her convincing Ian to change course, and actually sell her to the highest bidder. She controls the President, and there are plenty of suitors out there. Next week, the auction begins! Ultimately, we never saw this twist coming. It’s a little random, but at the same time fun. Grade: B+.
