‘The Blacklist,’ ‘Law & Order: SVU,’ ‘Chicago Fire,’ ‘Chicago PD,’ ‘Grimm’ renewed by NBC
Clearly, today is a good day for many of your favorite NBC shows, and admittedly, there are a few surprises in the midst as well.
Officially, “The Blacklist,” “Law & Order: SVU,” “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago PD,” and “Grimm” are all coming back for additional seasons. The renewals for “SVU” and “Grimm” to us are probably the most surprising, given that they have both had lower numbers as of late and we worried that the network could prolong a decision on them until the last minute. Obviously, we are very glad that this didn’t happen! Both shows have devoted followings, and we feel like it is a nice (and smart) move for the network to make it clear that they don’t want to see the shows going anywhere.
For “SVU,” it is extremely impressive at the moment that this is a show entering its 17th season, and there is not any sign at all of it ending just yet. Whenever it does, we do hope that they announce it in advance, so that there is a proper series finale unlike what happened to the flagship “Law & Order.”
For “The Blacklist,” this is a nice show of confidence in the show following its ratings after the Super Bowl, and also before the show airs its first new episode on Thursday night. We still feel like this was a needless move to make for something that was working on Mondays, but obviously, the network wants to see if they can make something work that comes out the air using their lead-in from “The Voice.” We do understand that.
