ABC News, Diane Sawyer scores interview with Bruce Jenner about transitioning to woman
There have been many headlines over the past few days in regards to Bruce Jenner’s transition from a man to a woman, and also that he could potentially star in a docuseries on E! about the process. However, until now, there was not any real indication as to when there would be a televised interview on the subject.
Now, we have some sort of supposed answer to that. According to a report from the New York Post, ABC News and Diane Sawyer have scored this big interview, which is going to air at some point this May. Some segments are already being filmed. This is a surprising move in many ways, given that the Jenner / Kardashian empire has been built on the aforementioned E! network, which shares the same parent company as NBC. According to BuzzFeed, ABC winning out on this interview is already causing some internal strife within the company. (Then again, NBC News is pretty much a hot mess these days other than Brian Williams.)
Jenner has been the subject of great speculation for some time, ever since there were a variety of different photos that surfaced across the internet over the past several months. Before that, many of the headlines revolved around the divorce from Kris Jenner.
Transitioning has become more of a topic in the media in 2015 especially, thanks in part to the success of the Amazon TV series “Transparent,” which, along with star Jeffrey Tambor, found itself victorious at the Golden Globes. This has given the subject more of a human platform, where it can better show the reality of the process.
We will have some other news on the subject as it starts to be made available. For now, be sure to head over here in the event you want to get some other TV updates courtesy of our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: ABC.)
