‘The Blacklist’ season 2 spoilers: ‘Pulp Fiction’ actress scores evil role
We are right in the middle of a two-episode arc on “The Blacklist” featuring Ron Perlman as notorious villain Luther Braxton, but why not take a moment now to focus on a very different sort of adversary? This is at least our thinking at the moment, since we are waiting for a few more days to see what happens next.
According to TV Guide, Amanda Plummer (“Pulp Fiction,” “L.A. Law”) has scored an interesting guest spot as Tracy Solobotkin, a woman who may be one of the Blacklisters you meet a little later this season. As executive producer John Eisendrath is careful to note, this is not necessarily a woman who started out evil, or with evil intentions, in any shape or form:
“[Tracy is a] very unexpected, small, fringe person who has her own very, very dark impulses … Once she realizes that the life she’s been living is a lie, it completely turns her in a direction that is incredibly dark, and, in her twisted mind, justifies [her] actions.”
While in some shows we almost dread the story-of-the-week format, one of the reason that “The Blacklist” makes it work is just because they put so much effort into many of their villains. We feel like we have said this before, but there is almost a comic book sort of quality to many of them are so distinctive, interesting, and have such nefarious plans for the future. Few shows are really able to pull any of this sort of stuff off in the same way.
