‘The Celebrity Apprentice’ review: Brandi Glanville, Ian Ziering, and Johnny Damon clash over jingle
The further and further we get into this season of “The Celebrity Apprentice,” and the more obvious it is starting to be that Leeza Gibbons really should be the winner of the competition. She has dominated almost every task, and when you look at pure wins and losses, it is not even close.
With that being said, is she the best TV? Probably not, but at a certain point it really doesn’t matter. Tonight, her team, after joining with Geraldo Rivera and Vivica A. Fox, destroyed the one led by Brandi Glanville. They had to come up with a jingle for the latest Bud Light property, and she struggled from the get-go. Regardless of whether she went with the idea of Ian Ziering or Johnny Damon, both were not very good. Johnny’s was slightly better, since Ian’s felt more like a cheesy take on “La Cucaracha.”
This was the hilarious part of the entire episode: Ian spent all of his time hyping up something that was a rip off on another song! Somehow, nobody pointed this out to him until Donald Trump completely owned him in the boardroom and fired him. We like Ian a lot and he was a strong player, but we do somewhat agree with him here. He didn’t really do anything to try to help the task, and made an obvious mistake.
Ultimately, though, what was truly appalling was the result of the entire competition: Trump firing the entire team! We didn’t need this, and it felt almost like a move designed mostly to ensure that production could move along quickly. We didn’t think that they were anywhere near this terrible, and it was almost rather sweet how Brandi and Johnny supported each other heading out the door. Episode Grade: C (bad triple firing).

Inside Ian’s head he is a God and walks on water. Man, what a swollen ego. Does he not realize how he came across and what a fool he made of himself???

I was ticked off about the triple firing. Our winner will be Liza because Geraldo and Vivica should have been fired a long time ago. Trump wants a Gerarldo Liza finale. Don’t think I’ll watch because I have nobody to root for anymore. I would just root against Geraldo.
Disappointed

I feel the exact same way. Trump was going after Ian to conveniently cull the herd. Trump was making something out of nothing.
We deserved better than the triple firing!
Anyone else feel Damon and Glanville could be more than friends?

Trump is a moron. La Cucaracha is not a jingle, it’s a folk song. And even he said he’s heard it his whole life, meaning the likelihood that it’s public domain is high (in reality, it’s almost 200 years old). Lastly, the change of words would be construed as fair use of the tune, arguably a parody or satire under free speech. I question the veracity of Trump’s business acumen after tonight’s episode…
That tune is probably the hardest to get out of one’s head. Exactly what you want for a jingle.

No one is going to sell a drink using a song about a cockroach ;-/
