Super Bowl commercials: Eat24 app ad features Snoop Dogg, Gilbert Gottfried
Sometimes, we do get Super Bowl commercials that actually go for something other than just making us laugh like a crazy person. That, coupled with star power, seems to be what the Eat24 app is trying to do with their new commercial.
If you don’t see this one during the game, it is because it is only airing in select markets. That’s a bummer, since it may be one of our favorite ones that we’ve seen for the game so far. While it is not entirely flashy, it seems to understand exactly what the point of a big-game commercial is: Make people aware of your product, add humor, and throw in some big names.
The good – Great use of Gilbert Gottfried and Snoop Dogg, who could not be more different if they tried. Some funny lines in here as well, and the marketing around the app is super-smart. They make it clear what the app is, what it does, and also how to get it. They do all of this without making it too much like a standard commercial, either.
The bad – We suppose that the commercial does not explain everything about the app, but it still does enough to get you to download it. There’s not too much else to complain about here, though.
The verdict – As a whole, one of the better ads that we’ve seen for the game. It doesn’t reek of desperation, and it is a very good, funny introduction to something we’d never heard of before watching the commercial. Overall, a job well done. Grade: A-.
