‘NCIS’ season 12 spoilers: Details on big Michael Weatherly episode
Are you ready to flash back to a much earlier time in Tony DiNozzo’s life? Well, there is going to be an opportunity to do that on “NCIS” when it comes to the upcoming February 10 episode of the series! You’re going to see a young version of Michael Weatherly’s character, but it is not exactly going to be in a way in which you would hope for. After all, it revolves around a murder.
This episode is going to air on Tuesday, February 10, and you don’t have to wait to find out anything else. Just take a look at the attached synopsis for a few more bits and pieces of what you can hope to see:
“DiNozzo returns to the military academy he attended as a teenager after a murdered Marine and alumni of the school is found clutching the photo of a current student. Also, Bishop and her husband invite Gibbs and the team out for a special dinner.”
That’s right: Jamie Bamber is also going to be staging a return! For some reason there has not been that much hype surrounding the actor coming back as Jake, and the question that we have after hearing this news is rather simple: Why are we going to have this story now? Why is it that Bishop and Jake are inviting the whole team out? Other than Valentine’s Day, there is really not any other occasion that could be happening in February. Regardless, we are happy to see him again.
Expect quite a few good Tony stories to come up the rest of the season. After all, we know already that Robert Wagner is also poised to return.

What is it with this show and flashback episodes?! I’d have thought one per season was more than enough and we’ve already had a Ducky flashback episode this season. Hopefully the flashbacks will be brief. I watch to see Michael Weatherly as Tony. It’s been way too long since Tony has been at the centre, or indeed really taken part in an episode at all, so I await to see how this turns out with interest. However, between both the murder plot and Jake’s return I’m not sure how much time that’s going to leave for Tony anyway.

I agree. I’m kind of tired of all the backstory episodes at this point. What are the odds that the upcoming episode entitled “A Blast From the Past” will be yet another in an endless parade of Gibbs backstory episodes? I have to wonder as well that if they are going to wrap up the Sergei arc in March, who will be the next inevitable Gibbs arch enemy with a personal grudge for the May season finale? TPTB seem so desperate to feature Gibbs all the time that they can’t seem to come up with anything new. Every year we get the same one and done for Tony which never figures in importantly in whatever big Gibbs arc is the current year’s focus. I really miss significant great agent Tony being portrayed as a significant team member.

Finally, a Tony centric episode. I just keep hoping that “Cadence” will feature competent Tony and that his backstory will not serve to diminish his character or be more prominent than the case itself.
