‘How to Get Away with Murder’ episode 10 reaction: Viola Davis on Annalise’s past
Where in the world is Sam Keating? well, we know the answer to that. Unfortunately, not all characters on “How to Get Away with Murder” do, and that is where some of the drama could come from moving further into this season.
First and foremost, we give the show some credit for not telling us beforehand that Marcia Gay Harden was going to be playing the part of Sam’s sister Hannah, since that created for a nice and even delightful surprise. We did not see it coming, and it made sense for her to be on the scene looking for her brother. Her presence is of course going to create more problems for Annalise, but she could also serve another purpose, as well: Letting us find out more insight into who our leading lady was back when she first met her future husband.
Speaking about this subject per TVLine, star Viola Davis teased up this particular story with the following:
“The dots will start connecting in terms of how she and Sam met, what my connection was with his family … You’ll start to see why Annalise is the way she is.”
We feel like that latter statement may take more than just an appearance from Hannah to figure out. This is clearly a very complicated woman, and there are a variety of reasons why she so hardened and at times difficult to know. Still, we are at least pleased to know that the writers are taking advantage of the opportunity to get to know her now, rather than making us wait until near the end of the season or even ones down the road.
