‘Downton Abbey’ season 6: Laura Carmichael, Joanne Froggatt, and rumors of show ending
Are we starting to be at the end of the road for “Downton Abbey“? We’ve suspected that this could be coming for a while. Not only that, but we have been a pretty open proponent of the notion that the show consider closing up shop at the conclusion of the sixth season. It has nothing to do with the quality of the series (which we believe improved over the course of season 5). Instead, we’re talking here a little bit more about how we want the show to go out a champion, before people start to crack jokes about it being on for too long.
Well, the latest rumors suggest that the end of the road could be near. According to a new report from the Mirror, it is a not-so-secret secret that the ITV series will be ending this year, and the likes of Laura Carmichael, Allen Leech, and Joanne Froggatt all held meetings in Los Angeles during the weekend of the SAG Awards plotting out the future.
For the time being, this is merely speculation. Even if the show is not ending, we could envision the cast all trying to procure some further jobs, anyway. These are people who are all plotting their future, and it could include everything from TV shows to movies and much more. British actors are extremely popular right now in America, and that is a trend we expect to see continue.
If there is something further to report on this subject, we will have it for you soon.

I am indeed one of Downton Abbey’s biggest fans. And I have all of their past 4 series in DVD format. However, it is a bit saddening to see characters like Tom Branson go thru what looks to be periods of total misery with his new acquaintance, Sarah Bunting, who has the manners of Atila the Hunn. And before her, he got himself into a compromising situation with a another character, Edna Brithwaite. Anyway, the man has problems when it comes to the ladies in his life. And it really looking like its time for Tom to depart for a better life elsewhere, and taking poor little Sybee with him. And they really should teach the child to call her grandpapa a decent name, something other than “DUNK” anyway.
And from the last scene when Mary informs Tony Gillingham that she does not want to marry him, I thought he sounds like another NUT JOB, and DEFINITE TROUBLE, because he simply cannot handle her rejecting hiim after their lovely romantic few days together. Anyway I do not want the show to end. Because as in real life, people will come, and others will go. That is just the way the world is. And congratulations to Isobel and Lord Merlton on their upcoming nuptials. Because life does go on, no matter what.
