‘Supergirl’ spoilers: ‘True Blood’ alum to be new Jimmy Olsen
The cast for the upcoming CBS version of “Supergirl” is starting to come more and more together, and what does that mean today? Let’s just say that we’ve got another new casting for a familiar face … this time Jimmy Olsen.
Anyone who knows the Superman comics likely knows Jimmy already as a photographer who seems to be at the center of the action very often, but this incarnation will have some of his own notable characteristics. For one, he is working for CatCo, the media corporation at the center of the show … which also happens to be the same place that our lead Kara (“Glee” star Melissa Benoist) works.
Sources confirm that Mehcad Brooks, who recurred on “True Blood” and was a huge part of USA’s “Necessary Roughness” as TK, has been officially cast in the part. There’s not a whole lot known about him just yet, but expect this Jimmy to be a very intelligent, cunning guy who will have some sort of interaction with Kara.
There are still many castings to be done with this show still, and while we’ve already shown some ambivalence to the idea of Benoist as Kara, there is one thing that we are going to go ahead and say: We have a ton of faith in Greg Berlanti, who has worked on both “Arrow” and “Flash,” and also Ali Adler. She was one of our favorite people who worked on “Chuck.” Therefore, it is extremely easy to trust them when it comes to the people that they are bringing aboard the show.
This show, at least for now, is schedule to appear on CBS in the 2015-16 season.
