‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2 spoilers: Brett Dalton explains Ward’s journey
As of right now, “Agents of SHIELD” is certainly at a tipping point when it comes to many of its characters. One of the biggest cliffhangers out there came at the end of the winter finale, where we found out a pair of major shockers when it comes to the character of Skye. Not only is she an Inhuman, but there is also another name she may go by now in Daisy Johnson.
We’ve talked plenty about Skye already, so for the time being, why not transfer over to another integral character to the series in Ward. This is someone who we anticipate continuing to play a very large role in the show, and has went from hero to traitor to captive to fugitive over the course of the past season and a half.
What’s next for him? That is still something that is very much up in the air, but don’t necessarily think that he is just going to be heading back to HYDRA after everything that he has been through. Speaking to TVLine, Brett Dalton had the following to say about the crossroads his character is currently in:
“He’s hitched his cart to a horse before — HYDRA— and it hasn’t really turned out so well … So, now he’s like, unhitching the cart and hopping on his own horse and going his own way.”
We imagine that there may be some answers handed out at the end of the midseason premiere on March 3, but this is not a show that ever gives you all the answers right away.

Honestly, I want Ward to try to do good, but by not necessarily doing it in a good way. LOL He’s so freakin’ amazing at that, and to have him do his own missions, regardless of how they look to Shield or Hydra or anyone else…that would just be funtastic! I hope this one-sided thing with Skye ends, though to be clear, I want them to eventually circle back around again because I love them. I also really, really, REALLY don’t want a romance with the MayClone. Partnership, sure. Friendship, definitely. Love story = hell no! I can’t wait to see what happens next.
