‘Chicago Fire’ season 3: Taylor Kinney hopes for long future as Severide
This season of “Chicago Fire” has definitely been an emotional one, and largely because of how we have watched many of the characters adapt and evolve following the death of Leslie Shay. At the center of all of this has been Kelly Severide, who has done everything from dived into the bottle to getting married (!) as a result of how he processes his emotions.
So how does this story evolve for Kelly? There are many questions, but this is something we are going to going to have to wait and see about. Next week’s episode will focus on Severide working with the rest of the Fire Department and the PD to solve what really happened on the day Shay died; if nothing else, maybe this justice will allow him to move forward. We can also tell you that Serinda Swan has at least one more episode coming up, as well, and this show is not even remotely interested in moving on from this story.
Is the man behind the character in for the long haul? It certainly seems like it. Speaking in a new interview with TV Guide, Taylor Kinney had the following to say about if he wants to stick with the series deep into the future:
“That would be amazing. I remember filming the pilot and then the show getting picked up and I was walking down Michigan Avenue. The four years prior whether it was film or television, they were always arcs and then a film at most is a couple months and so I was always moving … I don’t know what the emotion was. I wasn’t like scared, but I was like, ‘Holy sh–, I could be here for a long time.’ Which isn’t something that I was thinking was going to happen but it’s been great. I love Chicago. I couldn’t be in a better place save for the winter. … I’m a lucky guy.”
