ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4, episode 10 spoilers: Shonda Rhimes on new Kerry Washington storyline
Just when you think you start to know “Scandal,” another turn comes out that may make you question so much of what you know. This teaser is a new one planted by executive producer Shonda Rhimes, and if her goal was to make us very much interested in the trajectory of the series moving forward, we feel like we can say without hesitation that she succeeded.
When we last saw the show in November, the huge cliffhanger was watching Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) be shockingly kidnapped right when she was started to get comfy yet again with Jake Ballard (Scott Foley). This move is going to have enormous implications, mostly because we’re going to get an opportunity to really figure out where she is being locked up, if Fitz is going to save her, and also how she handles this sort of isolation and fear. It’s not something that she is familiar with in this particular sense.
Now, let’s return to that tease. Speaking to TVLine, Shonda Rhimes let the following juicy tidbit slip about where we could see this show going in the future:
“We’re taking Olivia to a place that she hasn’t been before [emotionally]. We are growing Olivia in a different direction. And we are growing the show in the direction that we’ve been headed towards for a while.
“It’s going to be an interesting left turn for the audience, but it is definitely still Scandal.”
We just Rhimes with these characters, and are very much intrigued by what she may have in store for us. More than anything, we are happy to be getting a break from the norm. We feel like this show was starting to get a little too predictable with the love triangle and Rowan, so introducing some new dynamics is certainly welcome.
