‘Doctor Who,’ ‘Broadchurch’s’ David Tennant lands Marvel’s ‘AKA Jessica Jones’ role
David Tennant has officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it is in a role that may be one of the more underrated villains that exists out there.
Marvel today confirmed that the former “Doctor Who” star, who has more recently appeared in such projects as “Broadchurch” and the short-lived American version “Gracepoint,” has been brought on board the upcoming Netflix project “AKA Jessica Jones” in the role of Zebediah Kilgrave, a villain who also goes by the nickname of the Purple Man. It still remains to be seen just how much the show wants to make this character true to the original, but he is a pretty cunning, intelligent man who could put Jessica through her paces. The official description below gives you a good amount of insight into who this character really is:
“After a tragic ending to her short-lived super hero stint, Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter, Don’t Trust the B—- in Apt. 23) is rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities in New York City. An enigmatic figure from Jessica’s past, Kilgrave’s reappearance will send shockwaves through the former super hero’s world.”
This project is the second one that Marvel is preparing to unleash on Netflix, given that they have already set up “Daredevil” to come out in the spring. We have a feeling that many of these properties will connect with one another, even if it is to be seen how many references they will throw in there to the rest of the universe in terms of movies and TV shows.
