ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 4, episode 14 review: Who is dead? Also, truth about Louise
Let’s start our “Revenge” review for tonight by talking about the one union that we never saw coming weeks ago: Nolan and Louise. While they may be relatively new to the scene, we like the two of them together … even if it is not exactly romantic.
What we also liked about tonight was that we finally saw Louise realize once and for all that she wasn’t crazy. Her mother was responsible for the death of her father, and she was having an affair with the judge. Therefore, she used her daughter as an emotional pawn to get away with the crime, having her locked away in a mental institution and given medication. The character has taken a bit of a 180, given that she started off as a very forward and manipulative person; however, after getting off the meds and finding someone like-minded in Nolan, she has become rather likable.
Louise cut off her mother and her brother, and while that was going on, Victoria was dealing with a new adversary Natalie (Gina Torres). Jack, meanwhile, quit the police force after realizing that all of the politics there were not for him.
While we still have no idea where this particular story is going, it feels like we are being set up well now for a series of showdowns. For one, you have Margaux, who now has proof that Emily and Jack both played a role in Kate’s death, and she was the one responsible for killing Daniel. The problem? She still cares about Jack, who seemed to be hunting down Emily when he realized she was kissing … Ben. That’s not good, is it?
Oh, and let’s talk the whole “death” teaser at the end of the episode. Is it Charlotte? It feels almost obvious, probably too much so. If that is the case, we may deduct the grade by a good margin given that would be such a cheap, disrespectful way to kill off a character that has been there since the start. We can’t grade based on that for now, though. Grade: B-.

Jack was going to see Ben because Ben texted him and told him they needed to talk about Jack quitting. As far as we know, Victoria’s Mother is still alive, as is Patrick, and did Conrad’s Father die? No, they do not need to just kill Charlotte off.

Although Louise’s name was cleared in the Hampton’s, it hasn’t been cleared in Georgia, nor have her mother and the crooked judge been outed, nor ounished in Georgia. Hopefully that will ocur in the next series of episodes.
Additionally, Emily’s interest in Ben is totally unbelievable, and is an insult loyal viewers. Emily is far too smart to be fooled by Ben’s “search for the truth” style of police work. He has been far too obsessed with the Grayson msytique, and he is clealry not in the same league as either Emily. or Jack.
Now that Emily and her David have been re-united in public, when will she learn the fate of her mother?

Sorry to say, I disliked this episode; very slow and predictable, though at least Louise’s name is cleared. The only things I would re-watch would be Natalie and Victoria’s “death in the family” phone call. Only living relatives of Victoria are Patrick, Charlotte, and (presumably) Marion. Guess we’ll find out more in 6 weeks.
On the bright side, whenever I was disappointed with a season 3 episode, the following episode was awesome. Maybe season 4 will have that same deal. Until March 8th. :]
