Miss Universe 2015: Is Nia Sanchez, Paulina Vega, or Diana Harkusha the winner?
Tonight, NBC did everything in their power to make the Miss Universe Pageant as grand of an affair as ever before, but did you really expect them to do anything else?
Let us start here with the big announcement, and that is of the winner: Paulina Vega of Columbia! It was close, but Vega narrowly beat out Miss USA Nia Sanchez, who would’ve continued a good trend given that Olivia Culpo’s win was so recent. Diana Harkusha of the Ukraine finished in third place on the night. This proved to definitely be an international affair, given that each one of the top three hailed from a different continent.
This win for Vega continues a solid trend for South America, given that last year’s winner Gabriela Isler hails from Venezuela. Four out of the last seven years, the reigning Miss Universe has come from a South American country, three of them being Venezuela.
Obviously, the United States has nothing to feel sad about right now, and we suppose that the country the most potentially upset at the moment is the Philippines, who finished out of the top five. The country may have a more passionate Miss Universe following than any other country, at least based on internet reaction.
Vega, as a result of winning this title, is going to have the tremendous opportunity to travel the world and promote many of her causes. Meanwhile, Sanchez will continue to do all of the work that comes with being Miss USA, and that is an extremely busy job in itself.
