‘Orphan Black’ season 3: Tatiana Maslany on multiple characters, Uzo Aduba at SAG Awards
The past couple of awards shows have been sorely lacking someone truly spectacular, and we’re of course talking here about Tatiana Maslany. She should’ve been nominated for “Orphan Black” across the board, but for some inexplicable reason yet again, it just did not come to pass.
Luckily, we can at least smile with the news that she was present at the 2015 SAG Awards in Los Angeles Sunday, and she even walked the red carpet. Speaking on the E! pre-show, Maslany described being there as “a whole other world” from where she works and is from in Canada, mostly because the country is “a lot more low-key” about stars and celebrity culture. She complimented heavily Uzo Aduba of “Orange Is the New Black,” and it was made very clear that the two are enormous fans of one another.
So what is it like playing so many different characters on this series? This was one question raised during the interview, and she had an answer that was complimentary of everyone else who works with her:
“It’s daunting, but the team is so strong and everyone loves it so much … For us from the start, it was just about playing and discovering these characters.”
For us, the daunting part of the equation is mostly just having to wait! New episodes are not premiering on BBC America until April, but we are hopefully going to have a whole lot more in the way of news before then.
What do you want to see on the third season of the show, and are you happy that Maslany is at the show? Let us know with a comment! Also, click here for some further “Orphan Black” insight, or here to sign up now for some further TV scoop on all we cover via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: BBC.)

So nice to see this article! She is such a fabulous actress and I can only assume that she was not nominated due to prevailing perceptions of sci fi as, somehow, subpar to other genres, when often just the opposite is the case! I’m a 60-year-old mom and I badgered my sons into seeing the show because of Ms. Maslany’s spectacular performance and now they’re hooked, too! :)
