‘The Mentalist’ season 7 spoilers: Should you be worried for Jane, Lisbon?

As we near the end of “The Mentalist” season 7, it is only understandable if you started to feel a little bit of worry about the fate of some of the show’s characters. We obviously don’t want to see anything happen to any character, but there is an undercurrent of darkness here. With Red John especially, it tended to bubble over the surface more often than we can really even hope to bring up within the span of this article.

So when could this darkness rise to the occasion on the show again? We are admittedly very nervous about “Nothing Gold Can Stay,” the new episode that is airing in early February. One of the biggest reasons for that is the title itself, which suggests that many things in this world can and will fade. That means sometimes even a character departing, or even dying.

Also, exhibit B is the extremely worried expression Lisbon has on her face in the attached image. That is not the photo of a character who is clearly enjoying life at the moment. She is very much worried about something, and we have to figure out what that something is.

The final reason we’re probably worried right now is simple: CBS has been pretty coy about releasing anything beyond this episode. Sometimes, this strategy is employed when they want to ensure that there are no significant secrets released on a given subject.
