‘Survivor: Worlds Apart’ cast revealed; early impressions
In the midst of what has been an exceptionally crazy 24 hours in between a boatload of news and podcasts here at CarterMatt, we have not even had a minute yet to discuss the “Survivor: Worlds Apart” cast! This group of 18 contenders for the $1 million prize was unveiled early Wednesday, and our first impression of the group is simple: We love them very much.
Last season, it felt at times like it was cast more for the Blood vs. Water gimmick, and less about actually getting good people in Nicaragua to compete for the prize. This time around, it feels like we have some great contestants who actually fit the White Collar vs. Blue Collar vs. No Collar theme very well. This is something we’ll get more into when we start our contestant spotlight series early next month, but for right now, here are just a few overall impressions.
1. It’s nice that there are no obvious stunt castings on here a la John Rocker. YouTube sensation Will Sims II is the closest thing to a “big name,” and he’s not a social media mogul or anything. (Yep, we rolled our eyes saying that.)
2. There are a TON of tattoos on the group this time!
3. The White Collar seems to have the most diehard fans of the show, including a man in Max Dawson who taught an entire college course all about the show.
The one thing that bothers us right now? A good seven out of the eighteen castaways are basically within the Los Angeles area. This suggests a whole lot of recruiting going on. Recruits can be good players, but it does at times lead to clueless people.
