‘Criminal Minds’ season 10, episode 12 review: David’s vacation hits a snag
On last week’s episode of “Criminal Minds” we had an episode that revealed some dark memories for Jennifer as she came face to face with a file containing information about the terrorist that attacked her years ago, but she was able to close the file on that part of her life and make the decision not to let him continue to affect her moving into the future.
This week the focus shifts to David as he decides to take a little fishing trip with his daughter (trying to make up for lost time with her) and is actually taking a full out vacation, no laptop, no cell phone, nothing, but when the New Directions call him to let him know that Harrison Scott died of bone cancer his plans change a little. David takes a detour to Los Angeles before going on his vacation with his daughter to see if he can do anything to help Harrison’s son Thomas when it comes to the funeral arrangements.
When David arrives he starts to go through Harrison’s things to help with the organization of his things and it brings back memories for David and his time in the military. Thomas reveals that his dad knew that he was dying for over a year, but didn’t want to tell David and that it was behind the urgency of Harrison meeting up with his son.
David offers to help Thomas organize the funeral and his daughter decides to come and help him (and of course support him as well).
David rarely gets a break on this show so we were hoping that he was going to get to his fishing trip without any issue, but with a death like Harrison’s there was no way that was going to happen. We were happy to see his daughter show up and be there for him – it’s a relationship we are very excited about watching grow. Episode grade: B-
