‘Top Chef: Boston’ rankings: Will George, Mei, or Gregory pack their knives right before Mexico?
Tomorrow night, we finally learn a question that we have long been pondering on Bravo’s “Top Chef“: Who will be advancing to the final stage of the competition in Mexico? In reality, all four of the remaining chefs will, but the loser this week will be forced to go to “Last Chance Kitchen” and compete against Doug Evans there to reenter the competition. We would not want to battle Doug.
So how do you judge such insanely talented people? We cannot taste their food from a keyboard, but we can rank them based on the judges’ feedback, the edit, and most importantly, whether or not they already have a guaranteed spot in Mexico after this week.
4. George Pagonis – There’s a big divide between fourth and third. George has done great redeeming himself after being eliminated in terrible fashion the very first week in the Sudden Death Quickfire. At this point, though, it feels like he is step behind the other chefs.
3. Mei Lin – We’ll be really surprised if either Mei or Gregory go home, but we feel like he has received more of the edit of someone who makes the finale. At least to this point, editing does matter.
2. Gregory Gourdet – We still feel strong winner vibes coming from him, but once you get past this week, we throw most everything out the window. The final part of the season is typically filmed a stretch of time later, and we almost feel like contestants get a separate edit on the final trip.
1. Melissa King – We actually feel like Mei and Gregory have been stronger most of the season, but Melissa is the one with the guaranteed ticket to the finale. That speaks volumes, and when she arrives to Mexico, all bets are off.
