‘American Horror Story’ season 5 spoilers: Could Finn Wittrock return for more?

To us, there is little debate as to who is the star of “American Horror Story: Freak Show“: It’s Finn Wittrock. The man has made Dandy Mott into one of the most vile characters on the series; he’s manipulative, powerful, and also capable of killing without any guilt whatsoever. Now that he owns the freak show going to Wednesday night’s season finale, that could be a problem for almost everyone.

So is it possible that Wittrock could return for another go-around? Ryan Murphy does like to use familiar actors in each season, and with so many question marks after this particular group of episodes (Sarah Paulson and Emma Roberts are most likely out, while Jessica Lange is still a mystery), it does open the door for others to rise to the occasion.

More than anything else, it seems to be that Finn wants to continue to do new and exciting work. Speaking to NOLA.com in setting up the finale, the actor explained that he is open, but he does want to do something very different from Dandy if he returns:

“There has honestly been no conversation about it. I’ve just been trying to make it through this. If I do something else, the great thing about the show is I can do something completely and utterly different, which is what I want to do if I did it again. There’s a bunch of rumors about what it’s going to be, and then that rumor’s dispelled. Whatever that idea was, that’s not the idea any more. We won’t really know until whenever.”

If we did have it our way, he would be mostly interested in the idea of seeing Wittrock being a more heroic character, and then seeing Evan Peters more in the evil villain role. That is something that could add at least a different flavor to a fifth season, which is likely not going to be another flashback.
