‘Arrow’ season 3 spoilers: Stephen Amell charts future for Oliver, Felicity

Arrow -Wednesday will bring about the return of “Arrow” to The CW, but it may not necessarily bring the return of Oliver and Felicity to the screen at the same time. While these two characters have grown closer together, the idea that Oliver may be dead will be a hard pill for Emily Bett Rickards’ character to swallow. her feelings were already in a spin-cycle in between Oliver and Ray Palmer, and the fact that the former said “I love you” before facing off against Ra’s al Ghul certainly does not help matters.

Since these two are likely to be apart for at least a few episodes (assuming of course that Oliver makes it back), could this split give them a newfound sense of frankness to their relationship? That is a hard question to answer, but Stephen Amell tries to by saying the following to TVLine:

“I don’t think that they could be any more frank than they’ve been, or certainly than Oliver has been. He’s told her that he’s loved her three times, actually, because clearly he meant it in the finale of Season 2, and she’s never said it back. But I think that they’re pretty much on the same page in terms of he loves her and I think that she reciprocates. I think. I don’t know, I can’t get inside her head. She certainly hasn’t said, ‘I don’t love you,’ so it’s about whether or not there’s a time for them.”

We feel like they’ve both expressed their feelings in their own way, but there’s a difference between expressing them and acting on them. For Oliver, this is what he has lacked; he can say that he loves her, but he hasn’t shown that he can be with her. Maybe this time apart will do him some good when it comes to adding to this perspective.
