Justin Bieber to be subject of Comedy Central Roast
This may be the greatest news that we’ve heard in some time: Justin Bieber is going to be the subject of the next Comedy Central Roast. Let’s face it: If there is someone who should be an easy target these days, it’s him in between the Calvin Klein modeling, the antics, the tabloid rumors, and the general behavior. This guy has been asked for it, and now he is finally getting it.
The network confirmed today that in early March, the #BieberRoast is going to be filmed in Los Angeles. The panel of roasters and the specific air date has yet to be confirmed, but we imagine that it will be a mixture of popular comedians (think Jeff Ross) and also a series of celebrities who have something to say about Justin. In a statement, the network’s President of Content Development and Original Programming President Keny Alterman had the following to say:
“Justin has been asking us for a few years to roast him, and we just kept telling him to go create more source material first. We’re thrilled he listened.”
We love that this statement is somewhat of a dig, and even Justin’s own tweet confirming the news is to a certain extent, as well.
We are a huge fan of the Comedy Central Roast as a format in general, given that some of the past great ones have brought us so much joy, in between the one of James Franco, Charlie Sheen, Donald Trump, and Roseanne. The thing that surprises us the most is that it has been over a year since the network did one, and this feels like something that should be an annual tradition.
We’ll definitely have more on this in time, but for now, share what you what to see on the Bieber Roast with a comment! Also, click here for some further TV updates on all we cover via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: Comedy Central.)
