‘The Originals’ season 2 spoilers: Julie Plec on Hayley’s dilemma with Elijah, Jackson

Where do we see the story go from here with Hayley “The Originals” season 2? This is in so many ways the million-dollar question going into the winter premiere tonight, mostly because of what we saw the last time that the series was on the air. Clearly, Phoebe Tonkin’s character is getting a little bit closer to Elijah, but the unfortunate timing of it all is that she is also preparing to marry Jackson in what is a smart political move.

While we’re dealing with vampires, werewolves, hybrids, and so much more in the city of New Orleans, there is one important theme here that is the same we’ve seen so many times before: Whether or not to follow your heart, or to follow what you think is in the best interest of those who surround you. Speaking per TVLine, executive producer Julie Plec had the following to say on this subject:

“There will be some emotional turmoil for Hayley … She’ll have to decide: Does she tell Jackson? Does she not tell him? Does she go through with this wedding, even though she’s in love with another man?”

Based on all of the information that we have read so far, do not expect any sort of quick resolution to this debate, either. This is something that these characters are going to continue to wrestle with for some time, and Hayley also has some other issues on her plate. With Hope back in NEw Orleans, how will she and Klaus devise a way to properly protect the child?
