‘Call the Midwife’ season 4, episode 2 preview: What’s next for Helen George, cast?

Call the Midwife -Tonight, the BBC welcomed us back into the world of “Call the Midwife,” and it wasted no time letting us now how the show is going to bounce back from the loss of Jessica Raine as Jenny Lee. She was nary referenced in the premiere, and we are back now to watching how some of these women are adapting and evolving as we enter a complicated time in history. (Warning: Spoilers ahead for American readers!)

Is there trouble at Nonnatus House? It certainly sounds like it, since the synopsis below suggests that there will be some problems across the board when Barbara faces a mother going through a hard time. Meanwhile, finances place the entire house in a pretty desperate position:

“Barbara faces her most challenging case to date when she treats first-time mother Abigail Bissette and the birth does not go according to plan. As Sister Julienne struggles with the increasing financial pressure on Nonnatus House, a mystery benefactor comes to the rescue. Elsewhere Sister Evangelina is unimpressed by newly arrived nurse Phyllis Crane.”

Can a place like Nonnatus really survive in the modern day? This is a question that you are meant to ponder at the moment, and we are going to have some further updates on this subject throughout the week. Let’s just hope for more great material for Helen George and Miranda Hart to work with, since they are the two biggest anchors of the series now that Raine is gone.
