‘Call the Midwife’ season 4, episode 1 preview: Take a look at a Shelagh scene!

Tomorrow night marks the return of “Call the Midwife” to BBC One for its official start of season 4, and to go along with that, we have a brand-new sneak peek with some hints at what to expect!

While this is not the most revealing one in the world, it does teach us a few things when it comes to the Shelagh character. For one, we know a little bit more about how she is as a parent, and how sometimes, that means bringing your child to work. She is still doing something that was fairly revolutionary at that time, and that was working hard to balance both being a mother and being a hard worker at the same time.

Unfortunately, we cannot say that anything in this preview really feels like it will be that substantial for the progression of the series in the long-term. After all, we are dealing with Shelagh and a child character who feels very much like the story of this week. If nothing else, this is a reflection of how her worldview as a parent and also as an employee can at times clash, and not always make a whole lot of sense.

We’ll get a better sense of the entire premiere on Sunday, which also happens to be when we are going to present our full preview for the installment. Stay tuned for that.
