‘Chuck’ star Zachary Levi joins NBC’s ‘Heroes: Reborn’

Heroes -NBC has managed to find a way to get us excited about “Heroes: Reborn.” All it took was one very-specific casting.

Today, it was revealed via TVLine that Zachary Levi, star of one of our favorite series of all-time in “Chuck,” will be the leading man for the upcoming revival of the one-time science fiction hit for the network. So far, casting has been very scant on the project, with the only confirmed news being that Jack Coleman was going to return as Noah a.k.a. HRG. This instantly gives the show a little bit of geek cred, and an actor who can do both drama and comedy with relative ease.

In a statement to the website, Levi had the following to say:

“There are a few franchises I’ve always wanted to be a part of, and Heroes is one of them … Chuck gave me the opportunity to wield some fun powers, but an entire world with superpowers is a world I’ve always wanted to explore.

“I’m so grateful for the opportunity to work with Tim [Kring], and the awesome team around him, in bringing this to life. Moreover, to be working with NBC again is such a reward in itself, as my bonds and relationships there are deep.”

The truth here with “Heroes” is that the first season was tremendous, but then things started to go downhill soon after that due to a few too many people having powers for their own good. The show, which was at one point fairly simple and also fun, started to become much too complicated. Hopefully this will mark a step back, and a chance for the show to have a little bit of fun again.
