‘American Idol XIV’ video: Sal Valentinetti auditions for Adam Lambert, judges

American Idol -We have to say that we love Sal Valentinetti already on “American Idol.” We have no idea just how far he is going to go on this competition, mostly because crooners are not typically the sort of thing that tends to be very successful on the show.

With that being said, this guy has everything it takes to be a professional singer. Not only does he have a really smooth, strong voice, but he is super-charismatic, which is precisely what he needs to be for the genre of music he is doing. He jokes about his shoes, talks about his accent, and even snatched a hundred bucks from Harry Connick Jr. when he impresses him with his musical knowledge. Changing the song lyrics of “In Other Words” to sing to Jennifer Lopez? A little cheesy, but we’ll let it slide for now.

This is one of the auditions that is overseen by Adam Lambert, who will be a guest in New York helping Jennifer and Harry. Adam’s actually pretty quiet in this particular preview, but we doubt that is going to be the case for the rest of the episode as a whole.

Sal’s biggest roadblock moving forward will be showing that he can interpret a variety of music, and not just songs that are perfectly suited for Big Band Night. Showing multiple facets of your talent is essential to doing well in this particular competition.

We’ll be back tonight with a full review of all of the singers, and of Adam as a judge. Stay tuned.
