‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 16, episode 12 preview: A major story for Danny Pino’s Nick Amaro
It was only a week ago that we had a very emotional episode of “Law & Order: SVU” that focused heavily on the character of Amanda Rollins. Next week, you better prepare yourself for something very personal yet again. “Padre Sandunguera” is the title for this particular installment, and based on what we know right now, this is going to require him to decide between his family and his job in many ways. It’s great material for Danny Pino, and it proves that life just doesn’t seem to be getting any easier for this guy. Remember what happened to him going into this season?
For a few more details, take a look at the synopsis below (if you have not seen it already):
“Amaro’s father, Nicolas (Armand Assante), invites his estranged family to his wedding with a 28-year-old woman. When Amaro declines the invitation, a fight ignites at the wedding, causing Nicolas to become arrested. Amaro is required on stand as a witness, forced to reveal family secrets and faced the possibility of tearing his family apart.”
This installment is set to be the last one of the month of January. After this, the series is going to be going on a short hiatus, and will return with many episodes throughout the month of February. There is still more than half of the season left to go, which is very significant when it comes to getting the opportunity to see a variety of other powerful stories play out.

The episode on Amaro’s family should be interesting as long as Armand Assante doesn’t go overboard with the “I’m your family” and “I’m your flesh and blood” lines like he did in JUDGE DREDD(oops, spoiler alert). Then it will hopefully be back to LOTS OF KELLI GIDDISH, the best thing about SVU. Can we please starting getting ALL 6 of the main members in an episode PLEASE? Why does SVU have such a problem with this now and other shows don’t? Are the actors/actresses(except for Mariska) only being paid for the shows that they make an appearance in? It looks like the AMARO/ROLLINS relationship is on hold(thank goodness). Wouldn’t it have been nice to see Amaro walk across the room and punch Chief Patton in the face? I guess Amaro has been suspended enough, so that wasn’t going to happen. Stay Tuned

I think next weeks episode with Armand Assante shouldn’t be missed, as long he doesn’t start pulling out the “I’m your family” and the “I’m your Flesh and Blood” lines from JUDGE DREDD(oops, spoiler alert). Then we need to see a lot more of the best thing about this show, KELLI GIDDISH! Last weeks episode without Det. Amanda Rollins was difficult for some of us(Like me). Hey NBC, CBS offered Cote de Pablo $200,000 an episode to stay on NCIS. Make sure you make the same offer to Kelli Giddish to stay on SVU. I know I’m getting the Mariska Hargitay worshipers angry, but KELLI GIDDISH is critical to the survival of SVU. If you’re not willing to spend money on this show(after cutting money from it for the last 4 years) let Dick Wolf try and move it somewhere else.
