‘The Mentalist’ season 7 spoilers: ‘Nothing Gold Can Stay’
We have to start this article about the tenth episode of “The Mentalist” season 7 with a rather simple message: We absolutely love the title of “Nothing Gold Can Stay.” It feels in some way emblematic of where we are with this show. It has been golden to so many people for such a long time, but when the dust settles, nothing can last. This show has to end at some point, and next month just so happens to be that time.
This particular installment is airing on Wednesday, February 4, and if you are interested in some further specifics, take a look at the official synopsis below via CBS:
“Jane takes extreme measures as the team tries to apprehend a deadly gang of armored car robbers before their desperation to remain free costs more innocent people their lives.”
This episode sounds intense, and we do wonder upon reading it if there is actually going to be more to this story than what we see here. What we mean by that is that we’re ultimately getting very close to seeing the show going off the air, and we personally believe that there has to be some sort of major villain or storyline before we come to a close. Ending the show with a case of the week wouldn’t be that exciting, especially when you remember how Red John really was the impetus of the story for an incredibly long time.
We’re going to have some more updates when it comes to this episode soon, so be on the lookout for those.

Meaning that nothing can last forever: Lisbon get’s killed – ending the bromance and making for a brilliant motivation for Jane to find the Lazarus killer.

Nothing Gold Can Stay
Robert Frost, 1874 – 1963
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
