‘Community’ season 6 premiere date revealed; more on Chevy Chase rumors, Yvette Nicole Brown exit
Greendale Human Beings, rejoice! We now know the truth as to when “Community” is going to be returning with its sixth season, and its first on Yahoo! Screen.
It was announced today at TCA that the show will premiere on Tuesday, March 17 with two new episodes. These episodes will be ad-supported and free to watch, and unlike Netflix, they are operating with a different strategy. After the first two installments, new ones will air every week. Personally, we much prefer this still to the whole binge-watching craze, since this gives you something to look forward to that does not completely overwhelm your life.
As for some other assorted details, creator Dan Harmon suggested that the show will write in Yvette Nicole Brown’s exit in the premiere, and there are still openings for both her and Donald Glover to return, if they are so inclined to do so.
As for the rumors that Chevy Chase could be returning for a cameo (which were started by Chevy himself), Harmon would not say one way or the other: “If you were to take a man and bring him back to life like that, I think you would want to keep [it] a secret.”
One other interesting nugget of information here is that Harmon is not planning this to be the final season of the show. There are opportunities for him to continue the story still, and that is something that he appears to befocusing on at the moment. We’re not sure how we feel about this given that sooner or later, all good things must end; still, if the show does managed to find a great new life on Yahoo, how are we going to complain?
