ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 7, episode 11 review: ‘Castle P.I.’ brings new dynamic for Castle, Beckett
After a lengthy hiatus, “Castle” came back on ABC Monday night with an episode entitled “Castle P.I.” It was tremendous fun, but perhaps more importantly than that, it showed that even without being actual employees together at the NYPD, Castle and Beckett can still find a way to work together … albeit after at one point trying to get each other drunk in return for spilling a secret or two.
At the center of this case was a variety of different events, but one of the biggest ones was an actual conspiracy. For Rick, this ended up being a field day. For so long, he has thrown these theories out like they are candy at a parade; this time, it was an attempt to make a top prosecutor in the city look guilty, that way to ensure that his career would be officially over. The main conspiracy theorist out there was Ryan; ironically, he felt the need to step up since Castle was not around.
Rick and Kate still worked together to a certain extent at Castle’s surprise office, and he did help out solving the case in a big way. As a matter of fact, it turns out that being a P.I. suit Rick nicely! He can avoid the rules, avoid the precinct, and then use his charm to get information. Plus, Beckett gave him a sweet hat and magnifying glass already.
In the end, we’d say that this episode was more or less one laugh after another. We’re not sure anyone will be talking about it at work tomorrow, but that’s fine. It was light entertainment, and the writing made sense. Sometimes, we don’t ask for anything fancy. Episode Grade: B+.

I really liked it. I’d give it an “A”. It made me laugh, it didn’t seem contrived or forced, and he showed up Gates. I can’t help but think that saving that prosecutor’s ‘bacon’, might not be the way back later on. It certainly can’t hurt!

Flipping between Castle and football! Since Castle didn’t start until the second half – it was an easy decision -Castle Wins. Also, I DVRed it, downloaded from iTunes store into my computer and will rewatch it with my wife tonight – she wasn’t home last night. 3 views in 24 hours – I wonder if they all count in the rating. LOL
P.S. I give it an A- Great fun with Stana, as usual, injecting just the right amount of “sex-kitten” and straight-laced detective into the episode.
