This has turned out to be a rather big week for “House of Cards.” First, Kevin Spacey managed to actually win his first Golden Globe award ever last night after eight kicks at the can. Then, Netflix released the official trailer for the latest season of the show, which starts streaming at the end of next month on February 27.
What is the takeaway from this? More than anything else, we’d interpret it as “don’t mess with Frank Underwood.” This is a guy who has shown he means business, and also shown that he can be a pretty terrible human being. Both of these are probably going to be a part of the third season in their own unique way, along with a variety of a number of other little things here and there.
The question that we have going into this season is fairly simple: How do you keep this pace going? This show is reminiscent of a “Breaking Bad” in a way, given that it seems like there is only so long that Frank is going to be able to do what he does without a hard fall. Granted, he’s not selling meth, but still. Also, the show has to try and top what happened with Kate Mara last season, and that will also be no easy task.
In general, this is going to be a blast to watch, mostly since we are curious about how Netflix is going to handle shows that start to get a little older in their TV lives. Most of their programming is, by comparison, still in the early stages.
