When does “Madam Secretary” return to CBS? While there are still some mystery about that, if for no other reason that that multiple sources online all have the next episode, “Whisper of the Ax,” airing at a variety of different times.
Based on what we’ve figured out, though, we would not be shocked if the series is not back until March 1, which is one of the reported dates online. Why is that? It is simply due to where the schedule lies. Next week is the AFC Championship game, and the week after that, CBS has scheduled “Undercover Boss” instead at the moment. Then, you have the Super Bowl, the Grammys, and the Oscars all in the span of one month in February. No way the network wants to deal with that competition.
In waiting to March, one of the greater advantages that the series has is that it can air a number of episodes in a row, and not have to worry nearly as much about more frequent breaks in the action for other things. There may still need to be a week or two off at some point in there if the show wants to make it to the middle of May, but is that really so bad? We don’t think so.
At the top of our wish list for the next part of the series is simply a large, new arc that challenges Elizabeth in a way that she hasn’t been before, and when it starts to take an even larger strain of her family and her entire life. We’re always doing for a good challenge.
