Given that “Arrow” has already spawned one spin-off series already in “The Flash,” is it really that unreasonable to think that there could be another one coming in the near future? It is at least a question that was asked both early and often during the two shows’ presentation at TCA on Sunday.
The obvious leader when it comes to the perfect potential spin-off would be Ray Palmer / The Atom for a number of reasons. You have a charismatic lead in Brandon Routh, and interesting character who has not been done on TV in a major fashion, and a storyline that has already been cultivated. Also, we know that the team behind the scenes spent a heck of a lot of time and resources on the perfect costume. You cannot have a great hero without a great costume!
While there at the moment is not anything definitive when it comes to expanding the DC universe on the network, a show about Palmer is at least something that the producers of the shows are at least considering. Executive producer Greg Berlanti said that they were in “early talks on a very general idea,” which means that there is at least something that has been considered. It’s not the most descriptive tease in the world, but still. Maybe they are thinking about a show that could feature him in some way, even if he is not the only lead.
Regardless of what happens to Ray, you’ll be seeing more of him starting up when the show returns on Wednesday, January 21.
