‘Halt and Catch Fire’ season 2: Show boss explains title, meaning, the future

Halt and Catch Fire -The second season of “Halt and Catch Fire” is going to begin filming soon, and we know that for some, there is one important question that many fans of the show still have: What in the world is with that name? This title may be one of the most-maligned out there, mostly because there is not only no reference directly to the computer command on the show, but for most unfamiliar with the show, they’ll have no idea what in the world it’s talking about.

The good for this excellent show is that there does seem to be a deeper meaning to the name, and this is something that will be investigated further in the upcoming batch of episodes. Speaking about this at the TCA Press Tour today (via THR), showrunner Jonathan Lisco shared the following about how this term suggests the sort of disarray that could come if these characters ever stopped their perpetual motion:

“Sure, it’s a little opaque, but if you really dig in after you’ve watched season one and hopefully watch season two, you find that these people must keep running, they must keep striving, and they must keep grasping at the future, lest they catch fire. If they stand still and halt, they catch fire also … So there’s really no choice for them except for to move forward in life. So we love the title. We have a geeky love affair with it, but we understand why some people might find it a little difficult to grasp at first.”

There was also some joking about the Sony hack during this particular event, with star Lee Pace joking that he was responsible for everything.

The new season is set to premiere on AMC in the late spring / early summer. What do you want to see unfold? Share with a comment now, and head over here to get some further TV news transmitted right to you via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: AMC.)
