‘Girls’ season 4 star Lena Dunham scores ‘Simpsons’ season 27 premiere arc
“The Simpsons” is pretty well-known at the moment for its notable guest stars; there are so many of them that at times, some longtime fans are critical that they overwhelm the story. For us, we feel more that after so many years of stories that are probably played-out, the presence of new faces gives the show a chance to really change things up a little.
For the upcoming season 27 premiere airing in the fall, we’re going to have an opportunity to see this something different courtesy of Lena Dunham. According to Entertainment Weekly, Dunham will be voicing the character of Candace on the show, a pharmacist who could develop an inappropriate relationship with Homer after he is diagnosed with narcolepsy. Obviously, the idea of Homer and Marge getting a divorce would be an incredibly sad thing to happen to one of TV’s most-beloved comedies, and so we hope that this is just a brief storyline that provides a few laughs here and there.
For Dunham, this is the sort of role that many aspire for when entering show business, mostly in that getting to voice a character on “The Simpsons” is a little like getting to be the host on “Saturday Night Live.” Lena has already done the latter, and this is a chance to do something different.
The timing of this announcement is most likely welcome news to Lena, given that the fourth season of “Girls” is going to premiere on HBO come Sunday, January 12 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time. It’s a chance to have her name out there in the press for something else.
