While Leslie Thompkins may be a doctor, you could discover very soon on “Gotham” that she at least some other particular sets of skills that you will be finding out about over the course of the rest of the season. Specifically, we know that she is not going to be staying put forever in Arkham Asylum, and the same can probably be said for Jim Gordon, as well.
While Morena Baccarin’s recent tease to Entertainment Weekly on the subject may not necessarily be substantial, it should at least still be enough to have you excited about what could be coming up in the near future:
“I do end up taking a job elsewhere … I won’t tell you where, but it is a little bit different from just being a physician.”
Ultimately, we suppose that part of the surprise here is going to be merely finding out what these skills are. We are assuming that they will be useful to at least one other character on the show, but the one thing that we can assume is that she’s probably not some sort of secret, crime-fighting vigilante. If she was, she probably would have been more effective in the battle at the asylum during Monday night’s new episode.
We did enjoy the introduction to Leslie for the most part, largely because Baccarin has such a warmth about her, and that she and Gordon already have more chemistry than he ever had with Barbara Keen. Of course, the irony there is that we still do not know if there is ever going to be anything romantic for these two characters at all.
