‘The Musketeers’ season 2, episode 3 preview: Porthos’ capture and much more
We’ve already been somewhat critical of the strategy by the BBC to air “The Musketeers” on Friday nights, and to also do it without the greatest amount of promotion in the world. Rather than repeat ourselves, we’re just going to go ahead now and scoop on what lies ahead for the action / adventure series moving into next week.
Based on what we know, there will be a massive amount of fun to be had in here when it comes to a capture, a rescue mission, and Constance taking the lead in trying to work a near-miracle. Take a look at the attached synopsis below:
“When a Spanish general, Tariq Alaman, offers to hand over the formula of a unique and deadly gunpowder in exchange for help rescuing his kidnapped daughter, the Musketeers find themselves tangled in a complex web of political trades with the Spanish. Their mission is further complicated when Porthos is captured by Spanish agents.
“Meanwhile, when the dauphin becomes seriously ill, Constance takes matters into her own hands and risks everything to save his life.”
One of the things that we do very much enjoy about this particular show is that it really does emphasize some of the fun and the spirit of the source material; while there are dramatic moments, we never quite feel like we are bogged down with the sense of depression that we sometimes feel while watching “Call the Midwife” or some of the other period dramas that are on British television.
Now, we just have to hope that the ratings improve a little so that there is a little more of a chance for the series to appear again on the network next year.
