‘The Flash’ spoilers: Full details on the Pied Piper’s arrival

The FlashGiven that you’ve been hearing about Hartley Rathaway a.k.a. the Pied Piper coming aboard “The Flash” for quite a while now, isn’t it time that you actually got a chance to see him in the flesh? We like to think so, and that is precisely why we’re so thrilled about the upcoming January 27 episode of the series entitled “The Sound and the Fury.” For one, we love the Faulkner reference in the title, and we love the plans that the show seems to have in store for Andrew Mientus in this role.

While the wait may be fairly long still to see this episode air, you get a sense in the synopsis below just who this character really is. He is a man who at one point was very close to Harrison Wells and the rest of the crew at STAR Labs. However, the particle accelerator incident changed everything, and now he is out for revenge thanks to his new ability:

“Dr. Wells’ (Tom Cavanagh) former protégée, Hartley Rathaway (guest star Andrew Mientus), returns to seek revenge on his mentor after being affected by the particle accelerator explosion. Now able to manipulate sound waves, the brilliant Rathaway is a dangerous threat to both Wells and The Flash (Grant Gustin). Meanwhile, Iris (Candice Patton) is thrilled when she’s hired by the Central City Picture News as their newest cub reporter. Unfortunately, her editor (guest star Tom Butler) pairs her with a veteran reporter, Mason Bridge (guest star Roger Howarth), who wants nothing to do with her. Cisco (Carlos Valdes) recalls his first day on the job at S.T.A.R. Labs when he met Hartley and Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker). Joe (Jesse L. Martin) asks Eddie (Rick Cosnett) for a favor but asks him to keep it a secret from Barry.”

Clearly, there is a whole lot going on here, but we don’t quite mind. While we don’t necessarily feel like the series got off to the greatest start, it has evolved quickly, and we’d say that it is now only a small step behind “Arrow” in terms of great superhero shows.
