‘Fashion Police’: Kathy Griffin explains hosting style, honoring Joan Rivers’ legacy

Fashion Police -To say that the next eight or so days are going to be huge ones for E! would be making one of the biggest understatements of all time. After all, you have the 2015 Golden Globes airing on Sunday night, and then following that, you’ve also got the premiere of “Fashion Police” coming up the very next night. This is the first episode of the show since the death of Joan Rivers, and with Kathy Griffin now front and center, she has to figure out a way to keep the show as fashion-focused, but also as biting, as humanly possible.

Griffin, as a part of her promotional tour for the show, made an appearance on “The Today Show” Monday morning. Speaking in the 10:00 a.m. hour to Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager, Kathy explained that she just wanted to continue the evolution of style on the show as Rivers did:

“The show is something that started out as red carpet commentary, and then Joan really elevated it and put all of these designers on the map and then had fun with it in a way that was fearless and no holds barred. And I think that’s what you want to see … So I’m going to be that person. I’m going to take one for the team.”

In the video below, you can also see Griffin talk with Savannah Guthrie a little bit about how she wants to remain as unpredictable as possible during the process, and also how she specifically cannot wait to go after a pair of her longtime “pals” in Ryan Seacrest and Anderson Cooper.
