ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 4, episode 11 review: Daniel’s funeral; David Clarke’s true plan

Revenge -Well, does it seem as though David Clarke on “Revenge” is an idiot anymore? We don’t quite think so after Sunday night’s new episode. “Epitaph” was a crazy episode with many twists, but the biggest one occurred during the final ten minutes, where we learned that for the most part this season, he has been playing dumb for a very particular reason: Killing Victoria Grayson.

Instead, things went awry, and Daniel is now dead. The show did a very nice job of sending Josh Bowman’s character off tonight, showing highlights of his time on the show, and most importantly, some reminders that there were components of his time with Emily that were genuine. It may have been founded on a lie, but not everything was. This led to a very painful final scene, as we said goodbye to a character who was so essential to the show’s success.

Now, we have to go back to being somewhat critical. If David wanted to kill Victoria, why hasn’t he done it already? He definitely had the opportunities, but everything seems to be so complicated with him. Unfortunately, this also means that things happen to be extremely confusing for us the vast majority of the time. This is still a character that needs a major clean-up; otherwise, just find a way to get rid of him. “Revenge” is pretty good at that.

While everyone else (even Victoria) was okay at first with perpetuating a story that painted Daniel as the bad guy in return for their own survival, one person stood out: Margaux. Eventually, she seems to have won some emotional stock with her argument as to why Emily needs to be hunted down. This is her new goal, and she is now Emily’s primary adversary in away.

Of course, there’s someone else now that must also be feared tremendously: Malcolm Black. Tommy Flanagan surfaced at the end of the episode as the character, and he definitely looks as though he means business.

In the end, this was a “Revenge” episode with great moments, but also confusing ones. It’s hard to say where the story will turn with so much up in the air. Grade: B.
