‘Sleepy Hollow’ season 2 spoilers: A surprise return and so much more

More -Sleepyheads, rejoice! The wait for new episodes of “Sleepy Hollow” will be over come Monday night, but for the sake of this article, we are looking a little bit beyond that to the future of the Fox series.

Specifically, we are looking at the upcoming 13th episode airing on Monday, January 19, which carries with it the title of “Pittura Infamante.” For those unsure of the term’s meaning, this is an Italian construct that involves creating a portrait or painting of someone in a negative, defamatory way. Centuries before you could trash someone on the internet, this was a way you could punish someone for their deeds in the event there were few other options available to you.

The synopsis below does not really give a whole lot of context away about this title, but you do get a mention of Michelle Trachtenberg’s appearance, and also a hint about a surprise returnee to the precinct:

“After the mysterious death of an art restorer at the Sleepy Hollow Historical Society Soiree, Ichabod and Katrina are reminded of a dear friend from their past – Abigail Adams (guest star Michelle Trachtenberg). Meanwhile, Abbie is shocked by someone’s visit to the police precinct.”

Our hope is clearly going to be that this visitor is Frank Irving, mostly because it seems too early for him to be gone from the show. Is he dead? It sure looked like it in the fall finale, but this show has taught us time and time again that here, death is only the beginning. Just look at how long John Cho stuck around, and with “Selfie” canceled, they may find another use for him on this show soon enough.

As for some other things to look forward to, head over here to see some of Ichabod and Katrina’s upcoming plans. Also, you can sign up for our CarterMatt Newsletter today to receive some further TV updates sent to your email every week. (Photo: Fox.)
