‘Call the Midwife,’ ‘Sherlock’ season 4, ‘Doctor Who’ season 9 part of BBC’s ‘Enjoy 2015’ video
With us being an intermittent viewer of BBC programming, sometimes we tend to forget just how many quality shows there are on this network worth checking out. With that in mind, maybe the network did a super-smart thing with the new video that they released in honor of New Year’s Day.
Of course, the bummer here is that you’re not getting much of anything in the way of new footage from this, but did you really think that you were going to get that in the first place? Given that there are so many shows that they have to highlight in here, that is a serious limitation. Not only that, but you also have shows like “Sherlock” and “Doctor Who” in here who are not filming until later this month, and even with that, it will be months before there is any footage ready to show off. Personally, we’re just glad that “Sherlock” is here, since it means that the network has every intention of airing at least the “Christmas Special” this year. (We put it in quotes because there is no confirmation it will be Christmas-like in nature, or that it will air on December 25.)
Some of the other notable shows featured here include “Call the Midwife,” “Happy Valley,” “The Voice UK,” “Strictly Come Dancing,” “Luther,” the upcoming adaptation of “The Casual Vacancy,” and the always-popular soap “EastEnders.”
This network had a killer 2014, with “Sherlock,” “Call the Midwife,” and “Strictly” being among the more notable success stories. For the most part, it also throttled ITV in the fall, despite the network having the one-two punch of “The X Factor” to go along with “Downton Abbey.”
