CNN New Year’s Eve 2015: Anderson Cooper ready for Kathy Griffin

At this point, Anderson Cooper has to be used to working with Kathy Griffin. The two have been partners-in-crime for quite a while on CNN’s annual New Year’s Eve telecast, and if they were to ever quit, we’d be eternally depressed. They are great at it!

What really makes this special work is that Griffin makes it her sole responsibility to make Cooper uncomfortable, and most of the time she succeeds. sometimes, that includes taking off her clothes, and others, it involves her handcuffing herself to the famed newsman.

So does Anderson have a specific strategy for the show this year? It doesn’t seem like it. Rather, Cooper tells USA Today that he is spending most of his time trying to not prepare or worry to much about what is going to happen. This time, he is just going to accept that Kathy is Kathy, and try to make the best of it:

“I’m always nervous when we’re together … I never know what she’s going to do, and inevitably, she does several things that are outrageous or shocking, and I spend the rest of the night thinking, ‘Who am I going to have to apologize to now?’ But it’s always fun and I think it’s fun for folks that are watching.”

While this show does not always draw the biggest headlines, it far and away remains our favorite thing to watch on New Year’s Eve. It is just so completely ridiculous from start to finish, and who would’ve thought that a serious news channel would be the best place to go for comedy?
