‘Agent Carter’ spoilers: Hayley Atwell lays the groundwork for new series

Are you feeling the burn of no new programming on TV right now? Well, you should be rather happy next week, when a variety of your favorite shows are all returning.

Also, there is a new “seven-episode event” airing on ABC in “Agent Carter,” and while it is technically a new show, there are still going to be many moments that should feel familiar. There are two different ways you can look at this tale, either as an origin story for SHIELD, or one to give you some further insight into the Peggy character, and her evolution following “Captain America: The First Avenger.”

The video below was first posted by Marvel Entertainment, and it features star Hayley Atwell discussing the importance of Peggy, and what she finds herself particularly enjoying about playing her. While there are definitely going to be many opportunities to see her be vulnerable, at the same time, you can also expect quite a few opportunities in which she is going to be completely cutthroat. There are many challenges that await her, and many of them are important to the future of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.

What we wonder, at least for now, is this: While this is being billed as more of a television event, what happens if the ratings turn out huge? Does the show suddenly find itself in possession of a second-season pickup? We are going to have a chance to see at some point in the near future.
